I know firsthand how many shelters can sometimes get to feel cold, I know the fear and isolation that comes with domestic violence. In Santana Globally We Care (SGWC) I found the support that I wished I could have received back then; This organization stands as a hand reaching out, a voice whispering, “You’re not alone.” It was exactly what I craved, what I desperately needed back then.
Now, on the other side of that struggle, I stand firm as a volunteer. Every time I speak with a survivor, a pang of empathy invades me, but it is intertwined with fierce determination. I see the reflection of my past in their eyes, a vulnerability that deeply resonates within me.
These women are strong, incredibly strong. But strength does not eliminate the need for support. Here, at SGWC, they find a safe haven, a chance to rebuild their lives. I help them navigate resources, find their voice again, and rediscover the strength within them.
Volunteering here is not just about giving back, it is about ensuring that no woman faces what I faced alone. Every tentative smile, every spark of hope rekindled, is a testament to the power of this organization and the reason I dedicate my time to it.
But you don’t have to go through this journey alone. If you are also a survivor and are ready to turn your pain into purpose, consider joining our incredible community at SGWC. Together, we can be a beacon of hope for other women, guiding them toward a brighter future. We understand your struggles because we have walked a similar path. You are strong, and together we are even stronger.
